Periscope is an application for mobile devices (IOS or Android) which allows individuals to either live-broadcast themselves or watch others live-broadcast themselves. Viewers can interact directly with broadcasters by typing messages to them. The broadcaster can read the messages and speak directly to the viewers. Broadcasts can also be viewed on a computer, but viewers cannot yet interact with the broadcasters. Periscope is owned by Twitter and, as such, a your Twitter username will automatically become your Periscope username when you create a Periscope account. If you do not have a Twitter account, you can still create a Periscope account.
To get started on Periscope, simply go to Periscope.tv and download the free app.
To follow someone, simply click on the People icon at the bottom of your Periscope app, Search for the person, Follow him or her once you find them, and set Notifications to On. Whenever that person begins a new broadcast while you are on your mobile device, you will be notified. If you also follow him or her on Twitter, you can be notified there as well.
